ABOUT THE ROLE:

Belize Telemedia Limited is seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled Service Operations & Maintenance (SO&M) Technician to join our Commercial Division in San Pedro. The technician will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of the Outside Plant (Distribution, Access, and Drop layers), customer installations, and network troubleshooting. The role includes responding to trouble tickets, supporting preventive maintenance, and executing service delivery with a customer-first mindset. This position reports to the Zone Manager – North

 

STANDARD JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associate degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunication or a related field.
  • Two (2) years of relevant experience
  • Fiber Optic Certification (e.g., CFOT, CFOS/T/S) preferred
  • Familiarity with Fixed Broadband and Mobile Networks
  • Experience with OSP tools: OPM, OTDR, VFL, mechanical/fusion splicing
  • Valid Driver’s Permit
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to collaborate in a team environment

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Investigate and resolve trouble tickets and execute preventive maintenance
  • Perform end-to-end installation and repairs for residential customers
  • Replace passive layer elements and conduct splicing or repairs in fiber/copper networks
  • Maintain Outside Plant infrastructure and assist in network optimization
  • Manage incidents and network issues, including disaster recovery situations
  • Exceed customer expectations in installations and fault management
