Security Officer

in its Operations Division with duty station in Belize City

ABOUT DIGI:

Digi owns and operates an extensive telecommunications network throughout the country of Belize in wireline, wireless and data services. The company offers and uses a wide range of products and technologies that include fixed line telephone service, fixed wireless, national and international calling services, prepaid services, an advanced LTE mobile network, international voice, and data roaming, Fiber internet and data services.  

ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Security Officer is responsible for ensuring 24/7 safety, security, and operational continuity across all Digi offices and exchanges. This role involves enforcing control measures, monitoring systems and physical premises, responding to emergencies, and supporting the oversight of the company’s vehicle fleet. During natural disasters or national emergencies, the Security Officer must report for duty and remain stationed to provide critical safety and operational support. This position reports to the Manager, Support Services.

STANDARD JOB REQUIREMENTS:

▪ Associate Degree in General or Business Studies
▪ Three (3) years’ experience in a structured security-related field

  • High School Diploma accepted with five (5) years’ experience in a structured security-related field
    ▪ Basic computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
    ▪ Excellent analytical and interpersonal communication skills
    ▪ Strong understanding of safety protocols and emergency response procedures
    ▪ Must be highly dependable, alert, and committed to upholding company policies
    ▪ Ability to operate surveillance systems and perform basic troubleshooting
    ▪ Willingness to work flexible hours and respond promptly during emergencies

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Access Control & Surveillance – Monitor entry/exit points, verify IDs, manage access credentials, and operate security systems to prevent unauthorized access.
  • Patrolling & Hazard Detection – Conduct routine perimeter and safety checks, inspect equipment like fire extinguishers and exits, and promptly identify any hazards.
  • Emergency & Incident Response – React quickly to alarms and emergencies (e.g., fire, theft), de-escalate conflicts, secure scenes, and assist in evacuations or disaster recovery.
  • Reporting & Compliance – Maintain detailed security logs and incident reports while ensuring full compliance with company policies and emergency procedures.
  • Customer Service & Public Interaction – Greet visitors, assist during events, and maintain a professional presence to deter misconduct.
  • Physical Readiness & Availability – Stay fit for patrols and emergency response duties, with 24/7 availability during natural disasters or national emergencies.
