ABOUT THE ROLE:
The General Manager Engineering & Optimization must have deep technical expertise in mobile, fixed, transport, and IT/cloud network infrastructure, with strong financial acumen for CAPEX/OPEX management and vendor negotiations. They should be an experienced leader capable of managing multi-disciplinary technical teams, driving operational excellence, and leading large-scale network modernization and digital transformation initiatives. Strong strategic planning, process optimization, and problem-solving abilities with excellent communication skills are essential to succeed in this high-pressure, results-driven role.
STANDARD JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Master’s Degree in Engineering, IT Management or Business Administration.
- Seven (7) years’ experience with Network and IT Platforms operations including 5 years in a management role.
- Expertise in mobile, fixed, transport and IT Cloud Expertise in Telecom
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Network & IT Planning and Optimization:
Plan, engineer and optimize mobile (RAN/Core), fixed broadband (fiber) networks, manage spectrum allocations, oversee design, implementation and lifecycle management and drive network modernization. - Infrastructure Development & Maintenance:
Plan and build the transport network (fiber backbone, DWDM, MPLS, IP/Internet), Develop and Maintain Power and Cooling infrastructure, Oversee submarine cable system and backbone extension and lead maintenance strategies for external plan infrastructure. - Operational & Capacity Management:
Optimize performance management processes for network availability and KPI’s, provide 24/7 operations and service restoration processes, manage network capacity. - Leadership & Team Management:
Lead a multi-disciplinary technical department (Mobile, Fixed, Construction, Fiber, Corporate Solutions teams), managing staffing, staff performance and development and ensuring staff alignment with the company’s business planning and strategic vision. - Financial & Vender Management:
Oversee CAPEX/OPEX planning, budgeting, and forecasting, Manage vendor contracts & relationships, Track and report KPIs, technology roadmaps, portfolio management and project deliveries. - Process and Strategy Optimization:
Implement planning and engineering procedures for network and IT systems, continuously improve engineering and operational processes.
