ABOUT DIGI:

Digi owns and operates an extensive, nationwide telecommunications and digital services network across Belize, delivering both core connectivity (Telco) and advanced digital solutions (TechCo).

The company provides a comprehensive suite of services spanning wireline, wireless, and data connectivity, including fixed-line and fixed wireless services, national and international voice, prepaid and postpaid mobile offerings, an advanced LTE mobile network, international voice and data roaming, and high-speed fibre internet services and TechCo solutions such as cloud services, managed connectivity and cybersecurity.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Technician Construction & Facilities is responsible for the implementation, build and/or construction of the High- & Low-level Designs in accordance with the Architectural Guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) For BTL’s infrastructure, Core & Transport sites, Data Centers and all network exchanges, utility corridors, roads and/or highways and customer premises.

STANDARD JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associate degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or an equivalent field
  • Two (2) years of relevant working experience in telecommunications or a similar technical role.
  • Knowledge of Fiber Optic installation, termination, troubleshooting and testing.
  • Knowledge of cable routing, management and labeling standards.
  • Proficiency in fiber connectors, enclosures and network elements.
  • Ability to read and interpret fiber and civil designs drawings.
  • Basic knowledge of civil works construction related to telecom infrastructure (e.g. ducting, manholes, and handhole construction/buildouts).
  • Proficiency with fiber tools and equipment and safety procedures and standards.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license for standard and class B and C vehicles

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analyze and interpret network design and construction requirements, ensuring alignment with approved standards.
  • Prepare accurate As-Built Design Documentation for facilities, long-haul networks, sales projects, and mobile sites.
  • Conduct field surveys and site assessments to support the creation of detailed engineering drawings.
  • Review project plans to identify feasibility, risks, and constraints in network builds.
  • Support construction and upgrade activities, including the decommissioning of legacy systems in facilities and mobile sites.
  • Contribute to developing cost-effective construction and facilities solutions that help deliver network performance targets, working closely with Network Architects and Program Manager
