Belize City, Belize, January 28, 2026 — Belize Telemedia Limited (BTL) today welcomed leaders from the Belize Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Belize Business Bureau to its headquarters for a full executive briefing on the proposed strategic market opportunity with Speednet, outlining customer protections that will be in place to keep service reliable. BTL also detailed the benefits for customers: more reliable service, expanded coverage nationwide, simpler better-value plans, stronger security, and choice-driven bundles enabled by a unified network and reinvestment into quality and reach.
“Thank you to the business community for the questions and partnership,” said Ivan Tesucum, CEO, BTL. “Our commitment is to increase digital inclusion to our unserved and underserved communities, including our vulnerable customers. This proposed transaction would strengthen infrastructure efficiency, safeguard national interests, and ensure that shareholders, customers, government, and employees all share in the benefits.”

Customer protections
BTL reaffirmed the consumer protection and continuity measures discussed with the regulator. These safeguards are designed to protect every Belizean during integration, and keep service reliable, simple, and priced fairly:
National platform for a digital Belize
BTL executives outlined how consolidating duplicated assets, while maintaining strong regulatory safeguards, creates a more efficient national platform that supports education, healthcare, tourism, and business. The goal is dependable service first, then innovation that’s practical, secure, and inclusive so every Belizean business can compete.
BTL thanks the Belize Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Belize Business Bureau for their participation and feedback. Today’s dialogue will inform the company’s business offers, migration playbooks, and communications, if the proposed consolidation is approved.
