Digi Expands Scholarship Program, Awards 57 Students in Landmark 35th Year

Belize City, Belize – 3 July 2026: Thirty-five years after launching one of Belize’s longest-running private sector scholarship initiatives, Digi, Our National Telecom, today celebrated a landmark anniversary by awarding 57 scholarships to outstanding Belizean students and expanding the program to include Junior College scholarships for the first time.

For more than three decades, the Digi Scholarship Program has represented more than financial assistance. It has been an investment in Belize’s greatest asset; its young people. Through education, Digi continues to create opportunities that empower students to achieve their full potential while helping to shape the future leaders, innovators and changemakers our country needs.

This year, under the theme “Go Further,” Digi originally planned to award 40 High School and 10 Junior College scholarships. Following an exceptional response with a 250% year-over-year increase in applications and the outstanding calibre of applicants, the company expanded the program to award 57 scholarships; benefiting 40 high school and 17 junior college students from across Belize.

Since 1991, the Digi Scholarship Program has empowered more than 800 Belizean students, reflecting Digi’s enduring commitment to developing the talent that will shape Belize’s future. As Our National Telecom, Digi believes that investing in people is one of the most powerful ways to strengthen our country.

The ceremony was attended by representatives of the Government of Belize, including the Hon. Ramon Cervantes, Minister of State in the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Technology; Dr. Leroy Almendarez, Chief Executive Officer in the and the Ministry of Public Utilities, Energy & Logistics; along with members of Digi’s Board of Directors, Senior Leadership Team, Management and Staff; and the proud parents, guardians and mentors of the 2026 Digi Scholars.
