Belize Telemedia Limited’s Update on Severance Matter

Belize City, Belize, 26 February 2026: Belize Telemedia Limited (“BTL” or the “Company”) hereby confirms that all sums awarded by the Caribbean Court of Justice to the appellants in Erven Marin et al v Belize Telemedia Limited, have been fully paid. The Company also confirms that severance payments have been made to former employees who meet the criteria set out in Section 183 of the Labour Act, and whose employment ended within the past six years.

BTL reassures the public and former employees that BTL continues to act in good faith and in accordance with the law and with full respect for the rule of law. Based on legal advice received, certain claims including severance claims are subject to the six (6) year statutory limitation period. By law, interest is awarded on judgment debts (for the particular litigants) and the award of pre-judgment interest, if any at all, is within the discretion of the court.

However, in the interest of reaching a resolution of outstanding severance claims by statute barred former employees, BTL took the decision to make severance payments to all former employees who qualify under Section 183 of the Labour Act but are now outside the six-year limitation period. BTL engaged in good-faith discussions with the Belize Communications Workers for Justice (BCWJ) in that regard. Despite BTL’s best efforts, all negotiations with the BCWJ have broken down and have come to an end.

BTL wishes to inform former employees that it will make severance payments to all qualifying employees (pursuant to section 183 of the Labour Act) (even though statute barred by Section 4 of the Limitation Act), plus interest calculated at 6% per annum from the date of the CCJ judgment in Erven Marin Et al v Belize Telemedia Limited (November 5, 2025) to date of payment.

Invitation for Former Employees

BTL invites all former employees who believe that they qualify for severance payments under Section 183 of the Labour Act to submit their information and details for review, by emailing severance@livedigi.com.

Each submission will be carefully reviewed. Where the statutory criteria at Section 183 of the Labour Act is met, BTL will pay severance payments together with interest calculated at 6% per annum from the date of the CCJ judgment in Erven Marin Et al v Belize Telemedia Limited (November 5, 2025) to date of payment. BTL further commits that once an applicant’s qualifying criteria is confirmed, payment will be made within fifteen working (15) days of such confirmation.

BTL confirms its full compliance with the CCJ’s judgment and continues to approach this matter with respect for the Court and the rule of law. The Company expresses its appreciation to past and present employees for their contributions and remains committed to a fair and reasonable resolution.
